Psalm 67 starts with a statement we hear multiple times in the church. It is the Aaronic blessing pronounced in Num. 6:23b–26. There are 3 phrases here.
Be gracious to us-where a stronger person lifts up or bends down to pick up, lift up a weaker person.
Bless us-with His presence resulting in life of abundance.
Make His face shine upon us- so that our face will be radiant (Ps 34:5) like the way Moses face would be radiant when he would see God face to face.
Many stop here without understanding the purpose of the blessing, SO THAT
His glory and His salvation may be known to all the people of the earth (Ps 67:2)
He will be praised in all the earth.
He will bless the land and the land’s yields will be abundant.
He is feared, revered in the earth.
Whenever we ask the LORD to Bless Us or someone else, remember the primary purpose is so that the nations will be saved, and He will be worshipped in awe.
