It�s a question we often ask ourselves and others: What are you pursuing?
Most of the time, our answers revolve around studies, careers, or hobbies. But Scripture invites us to look deeper.
Proverbs 21:21 says:
�Whoever pursues righteousness and faithful love will find life, righteousness, and honor.�
The word pursue here is intense�meaning to cling to, to chase after, to hunt down. It speaks of intention, focus, and wholehearted commitment.
Righteousness refers to moral uprightness, justice, and virtuous living�shaped by God�s character and evident in our conduct before Him.
Love is more than emotion; it is action�giving of ourselves, forgiving freely, serving humbly, and showing compassion.
Scripture commands us to pursue both righteousness and love. Why? Because one without the other is incomplete.
Righteousness without love can make us harsh, proud, and legalistic.
Love without righteousness can become shallow, sentimental, and without conviction.
But when the two come together, they reflect the fullness of Christ�grace and truth beautifully woven together.
So, what are we really chasing in life? Wealth, success, recognition?
The Word of God urges us to run hard after righteousness and love. And the promise is sure:
When we pursue them, we find life, honor, and God�s favor resting upon us.
