Many times, I find myself drifting into a subtle sense of pride when I reflect on my service in building God's kingdom. There are moments when my heart whispers, "Look at all I'm sacrificing.." and I begin to feel as though I am offering my time, my talents, and my resources to Him.
But then I am reminded of David's humble prayer as he gathered offerings for the building of God's temple. He acknowledged that nothing came from their own strength or generosity. Instead, David confessed before the Lord:
"From Your hand we have given to You."
(1 Chronicles 29:14)
In the same way, whenever I give to God—whether it is my time, my gifts, or my resources—I am simply returning to Him what He has already placed in my hands. He is the source of every good thing. And though my offerings can never match His incomparable generosity, He still delights in them because they come from a heart of gratitude, devotion, and love.
My giving, then, is never a display of my greatness. It is a response to His overwhelming goodness. I am not the owner—only a steward. Every act of service, every ability I use, and every resource I invest in His kingdom originates first from Him.
So I can only say, with humility:
"Truly, everything I offer is already His."
And if you ever find yourself thinking about your offering to God—your time, your talents, your resources—remember this truth:
They were gifts from the Lord long before they became offerings from your hand.
