Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4) In saying this, Jesus emphasized the need for Divine Revelation for our spiritual existence, in addition to bread for our physical sustenance. We are not just human beings, but spirit-filled human beings. Thus, we require Revelation for living.
On another occasion, when Jesus asked a question, Peter responded, “You are Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus was deeply moved by Peter's answer and said, “Flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my church...”. Once again, notice that Jesus’ plan for constructing the church was based on the rock of Revelation.
In Acts 13:1-3, as the five leaders of the church in Antioch worshiped the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Thus, the apostolic ministry was initiated through revelation from the Holy Spirit. Of course, worshiping, fasting, and praying create the opportunity to hear from God and receive revelation.
May it be the will of God that our church becomes a community living by revelation, establishing churches based on revelation, and ministering through revelation. By doing so, you can be certain of what Jesus said, “Lord, I am with you always.”
