Psalms 112 gives us a lot of cues-regarding the qualities a righteous possess. The righteous fear the Lord. He delights in the commands of the Lord. He is generous and lends freely and gives gifts to the poor. The righteous is steadfast in every situation because he trusts the Lord. He conducts his affairs with justice and discernment. As he possesses these qualities, he enjoys certain rewards. The Psalmist says his children will be influencers in the land. The Lord will bless him with wealth and riches. Even in the most distressing moment he will have hope. Good will come to him and he will triumph over his enemies. Wise living is characterised by lasting success, unlike many humans who strive on their own independent of God and whose success is short-lived. The greatest reward of the righteous is the generation that comes after him will be blessed. What an assurance, what a promise!!!
