Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke on that day; for you heard on that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said” (Joshua 14:12). Caleb says this when he is 85!!! Shouldn’t he have retired, given up and rested at his age. But we find in him a desire, a passion to serve God to cling to God’s Promises. The mountain represented his physical land inheritance. He had wandered in the desert for 40 years, fought battles for 5 years and he was not willing to quit yet. In Joshua 14:11 “As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in” (Joshua 14:11). Hallelujah, what clarity, resilience, perseverance and fighting spirit!!!
There have been times in my life when I feel weak and tired. Think I have done enough, but Caleb provokes me to continue, to keep going, to fight for the inheritance of God that is mine, His promises, His assurances, His vision, His purpose, His kingdom, His people!!! With God I can capture mountains that are my inheritance in Christ Jesus.
