Genesis 3:8,9 ”8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
Verse 8 starts with then, after Adam and Eve sinned, they realised they were naked and tried to cover their nakedness with sewed fig leaves!!! This did not assure them that they were covered well enough to appear before God. So, it is today in our lives. When we sin, there is shame and guilt that we face and nothing we do on our own can give us the assurance to come before a Holy God. When God called to man, “where are you?” It was a call of love, a call of genuine concern, a heartfelt cry of a father. A call to the lost, a call for restoration. It is almost a cry of saying come back!!! I will cover your nakedness, your shame, your guilt. Even today God is calling, “Where are you?” He always takes the initiative, He always reaches down, He always redeems when we respond to His call.
