Genesis 3:3c. When Satan questioned Eve in the garden of Eden about what God’s command was, Eve added to what had been commanded. We read in Genesis 3:3 she replied “God did say, “You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die “This gave a foothold for Satan to prove God wrong. The touching of fruit will not lead to death was his argument and the beginning of the fall. Eve’s ignorance of the word of God led to the downfall of mankind. As it was in the garden of Eden it is the same even today. The Psalmist says (119:105), “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” When I don’t know His word, I will error and fall into sin. Today many cults have evolved due to this error of adding or subtracting the infallible word of God. May we be careful, going back to the word, reading the verse with the context, understanding the real meaning of the word. Guarding ourselves from the craftiness of the enemy, so that we may not sin against God. One of the best examples in the Bible were the Bereans, Acts 17, "These (Berea) were more noble than those in Thessalonica in that they received the word with all readiness of mind and searched the scriptures daily whether those things were so. "They were careful to search the scriptures daily to check what was told is what is written in the word . May we be careful and not fall for the snare of the enemy.
