Come with Me

“In Mark 6:31b, Jesus calls his disciples by saying, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.’ It’s apparent that it had been a very busy day, so much so that the disciples didn’t even have a chance to eat due to their extensive service to the crowd alongside Jesus. Seeing this, Jesus recognizes the need for his disciples to rest.

The Greek word for ‘rest,’ ‘Anapauo,’ means ‘to refresh, rest up,’ or ‘to cease from labor.’ We, in the same way, are created to pause from the hustle and bustle of life, to take regular intervals to rest with Jesus. Even though we may passionately and wholeheartedly serve Jesus, it’s essential to simply be with Him, to rest, reconnect, refresh our souls, renew our strength, and recommit our lives. When we do this, we become people who don’t get overworked, exhausted, or reach a point of burnout. Instead, we overflow with joy, love, peace, and grace to continue fulfilling God’s purpose.

If you feel overwhelmed with work and life, hear His voice saying, ‘Come with me by yourself to a quiet place and get some rest!'”
