Your Presence

Exodus 33:15: “Then Moses said to him, ‘If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.'”

The LORD was so angry with the Israelites due to their constant disobedience and rebellious acts that He decided not to accompany them to Canaan. However, He assured Moses that He would fulfill the promise of “Canaan” spoken to the Israelites. He promised them protection by sending angels before them to fight their battles. This demonstrates God’s great mercy, despite having every reason and right to act against defiant individuals.

Moses was not content with this proposal. He was more concerned with God, not His promise alone. He was willing to let go of Canaan but not the presence of God.

Are there times in our lives when we are more focused on the fulfillment of the promise God has given us than on God Himself? Has God’s promise become more significant than God? Have we stopped enjoying the presence of God or no longer yearn for His presence because the promises of God have captivated us? Or are we like Moses, who said, “Your presence is more to me than Your promise”
