“From Burdened Heart to Liberating Joy: My Journey with Jesus”

My name is Surya, and I am excited to share the profound transformation that occurred in my life when I encountered the love and grace of Jesus Christ. Born into a Hindu family and raised in a traditional manner, I, like many, experienced the ebb and flow of life’s challenges. Yet, amidst the ups and downs, I had to endure witnessing numerous quarrels and even suicide attempts, robbing me of my childhood innocence. The constant fear of endless arguments and verbal abuses left my heart burdened, yearning for peace, comfort, and the embrace of a higher power.

In those trying times, I developed the habit of attending church, even though I did not fully comprehend the reasons behind it. Surprisingly, each time I stepped into the church, an inexplicable lightness filled my heart, as if a divine presence had lifted the weight from my soul. Despite the years passing by, the external circumstances remained unchanged, but my earnest prayers sought the ultimate truth, a quest for something more significant and meaningful in my life.

God works in mysterious ways, and His light shone through a person who was to become my husband. Though we were distant relatives, we grew closer as friends during my second year in college. Through him, God spoke into my life, and he gifted me his Bible, which proved to be a life-changing moment. As I delved into its pages, I discovered the truth that Jesus Christ is the living God, and the Bible is the living word of God. My heart rejoiced as God listened to my prayers, filling me with the comfort and peace I had been longing for. I realized that for 18 years, I had lived without truly knowing the living God and understanding that He died for me.

From that day forth, I decided to walk alongside God, and now, at 33 years old, married with two children, I can confidently proclaim that Jesus is the joy of my life. Though the memories of my past linger, God has bestowed upon me peace and understanding, allowing me to shape my life through His divine guidance. Through Jesus, I find the strength to face each day, knowing that He died for my sins and blessed me with His salvation.

Not only has Jesus transformed my life, but He has also touched the lives of my parents and my brother, who have embraced His saving grace, bearing witness to the living God. I am filled with immense gratitude that I chose Jesus, for His peace surpasses all understanding. I stand as a living testimony to the liberating joy that He brings into our lives. Until my last breath, I will continue to thank Jesus for all that He has done and continues to do for me and my family.
