Looking ahead for the reward

In Hebrews 11:24-27, we find a compelling example of Moses opting for a challenging right over an easier wrong. Moses willingly endured mistreatment and disgrace rather than indulging in the fleeting pleasures of sin. Although sin may offer momentary pleasure, it is clear that such pleasures are short-lived, lacking lasting significance—lasting perhaps only a few days, months, or even years. Yet, if our minds are not steadfastly focused on higher matters, as urged by Paul in Colossians 3:2, we may become ensnared and enticed by the allure of sinful pleasures.

A deliberate choice lies in contemplating the Lord, His cross, the shame, pain, and rejection He endured for our sake, as well as the reward He presently enjoys at the right hand of the Father. Bearing in mind the cause of Christ, one must persevere, allowing this perseverance to shape one’s aspirations and steer one’s actions. As we anticipate a reward of far greater value than anything the earthly realm can offer, may we resolutely guard against providing any foothold to the enemy.”
