Flourish !!!

Most of us desire to flourish in whatever we do, either by doing something or by trusting in something or someone. Psalm 52 gives us the keys. The Psalm is once again a Psalm of instruction, providing a contrast between the wicked and the righteous. The wicked trust in treachery, evil, deceit, wealth, and grow stronger by destroying others! The verdict for the wicked is, “God will bring you down to ruin, uproot you from the land of the living.”

But there is a clear contrast between the wicked and the righteous. The righteous will flourish like an olive tree in the house of God. Olive trees are strong and a source of blessing. The fruit can be eaten, the oil used for cooking, and it has medicinal properties. The tree flourishes in the house of God, in His presence, where there is joy, protection, guidance, correction, and comfort. The righteous trust in God’s unfailing love, covenant love that can be trusted. They not only trust God but also praise God for all He has done before God’s faithful people, people who love God. And they place their hope in the name of the Lord, a name that is above all names, a name that holds power, healing, and deliverance! Only when we know God by understanding His character can we trust Him. Trusting Him causes us to flourish and become a blessing to others.
